Copyediting: Dirty Work by Jack Bludis

Dirty Work by Edgar Nominee Jack Bludis, available from Page Turner Editions.

The latest book to be released by PageTurner Editions which I copy-edited is Dirty Work by Jack Bludis. It features a recurring character of his, private investigator Rick Page, but I hadn’t read anything else by Bludis before proofreading this book and I had a great time.

“We screwed three times and each time it was wham, bam, thank you ma’am.”

“There’s a lot of that goes around,” I said.

“I sure get a lot of it.”

“I didn’t mean–”

“I know.”

She took one of the chairs from under the small dining table, turned it around, and straddled it guy-style. I had a thought that she might be a lesbian, but I discounted it. I was supposed to be doing a job, but instead I was thinking about her and the smallish bed in the opposite corner of the room, but not in the wham-bam way. The bed was made neatly, but only with sheets and pillows.

Good guys don’t think about sex when they’re thinking about murder, but I’m not a good guy. What I want for myself always comes before anyone else’s needs or wants.

The writing is pure sexy, delicious noir. Page seduces his way through Hollywood’s finest starlets, or is seduced by them, all on the way to finding out how a respectable actress ended up on pornographic photos pasted into the pages of a pulp science fiction novel. New books are sold at a discount, so it’s the perfect time to order.

Dirty Work is now available in a variety of eBook formats.
