In Memorium, Dru Taylor

Posted in Burning Man, and Life

My blog has one less fan today.

Dru Taylor, 1977-2010.

According to the local mailing lists, Dru Taylor died on Saturday of a brain aneurysm. She was a Burner who was becoming more involved with our community all the time, and eager to volunteer with Flipside’s medical team next year. She had written to me in support of A Burner Lexicon during a recent controversy over it, and we’d become virtual friends. I was looking forward to taking that friendship into the real world, and to sharing an effigy Burn someday.

I’m sorry this won’t get to happen. She clearly had so much love to share with our community. My heart goes out to her friends and family and especially her daughter.

Update 1/22/2011: There is a new Facebook event for the benefit block party, taking place on 1/23. A new club, Shiner’s Saloon, has joined and is looking for live bands to play.

Update 1/18/2011: Dru is survived by a 6 year old daughter, Lily. Clothing donations are being accepted in size 5T and children’s shoe size 11 1/2.

A second benefit is taking place on January 23. Over a dozen DJs will be playing at 4 Austin clubs (Prague, Lanai, Shiner, and the Marq).
