On Saturdays, I answer reader questions and respond to feedback.
Q: Are Clover Clamps Painful?
Yes.
To give a more detailed answer, there are many kinds of nipple clamps — toys which put pressure on the nipples. The simplest nipple toys are clothespins, but many toy vendors make some form of device for this purpose. Both men and women can enjoy wearing them, depending on personal nipple sensitivity and sexual preferences.
Most nipple toys are very adjustable, from a mild pinch to a hard sting. These barrel clamps adjust with a twist. On the other hand, clover clamps, sometimes also called butterfly clamps are among the most painful. They pinch extremely hard, and get even tighter when you pull the chain. Though many nipple clamps can offer mild sensation play, clover clamps are only enjoyable for masochists.
Q: Can you use clover clamps on pierced nipples?
In general, no. Pierced nipples are often more sensitive than unpierced nipples, but applying pressure to the flesh around the piercings is very intense, even painful. The strength of clover clamps means that most people would find the combination unbearable. I cannot wear them on my nipples for even a single second.
Reader Feedback
I’ve been meaning to let you know that your reviews of various lubes was very helpful for me with enabling a postpartum sex life. I’ve always hated artificial lube and never needed it, so it’s not a subject I know much about. But one of the common results of postpartum hormonal wackiness is an inability to produce natural lubricant. Your reviews helped me figure out what to look for in a lube.
I love to hear this kind of thing from my readers!
I think the reason many people hate lube is that they are only exposed to unpleasant, sticky products like Astroglide or K-Y. A body safe, high-quality lube is a very different experience. Whether or not you buy a lube I recommend, what I want most is for my readers to come away educated about safe lubes.
