Deceleration: Palestine Protesters Disrupt Harris Rally in Houston

Outside of Houston’s Shell Energy Stadium on October 25, 2025, a group of area residents gathered outside a campaign rally of presidential candidate and Vice President Kamala Harris to drive awareness of the U.S. administration’s material support for genocide in Gaza and demand that the U.S. stop supplying weapons to Israel. 

The effort was organized by a coalition of groups that included Palestinian Youth Movement, Houston for Palestinian Liberation, and Al Awda, a group that supports the right of Palestinian peoples to return to their original lands in what is now the state of Israel. The rally’s message: 

“If you want to beat Donald Trump, get Kamala Harris to stop killing Arab people!”

White Nationalists Terrorize Houston Anarchist Book Fair (Alternet)

Alex Reid Ross wrote up a detailed account of the nazi attack on the Houston Anarchist Bookfairfor Alternet (it’s also been picked up by Raw Story). 

I appreciate that Ross got so many quotes from others at the fair, including organizers, and that he highlighted the involvement of some well known white supremacists like William Fears and Robert Warren Ray, a.k.a. Azzmador:

Nazis Target Kit’s Class At Houston Anarchist Bookfair 2017

On Sunday, I attended the Houston Anarchist Bookfair with my educational collective, Oh Shit! What Now? We offered a selection of zines and I taught my class on antifascism, called “Punching Nazis.”

Actual nazis from “Vanguard America” (recently rebranded as “Patriot Front), the same nazi party responsible for the death of Heather Heyer in Charlottesville, attacked the bookfair during my class, and only the quick work of the volunteer security team kept the people inside safe from their attacks. Zach Despart, editor of the Houston Press, interviewed me about the incident:

‘Don’t Write Your Congressman’: Green Party Candidates On Third-Party Movement Building

Record-breaking dissatisfaction with the presidential candidates nominated by the two major political parties is leading to a new push for alternatives on the ballot.

However, building a third-party alternative to the Republican and Democratic parties won’t happen overnight.

“This process of making radical change in this country is a protracted one,” Ajamu Baraka, the Green Party candidate for vice president, said during a press conference with running mate Dr. Jill Stein, just after accepting the party’s nomination on Saturday.
